Through resentment and rage, Malachi wasted away in the castle dungeon, for the king no longer had any use for the prince. He was unfit to rule and thus thrown out of the royal family and into the sewers with the rats and other inept children of the king. It was clear that he was not the first nor the last of the king's attempts to find a suitable replacement. Skeletons littered the floor, after all, the king had all the time in the world. Malachi’s hatred towards the king only grew and grew by the day, he vowed to make him pay for abandoning him and the others. News quickly spread amongst the castle, the King’s soon-to-be-born had the Archon’s blessing and was to take the throne. The king had struck a deal with the Archons, the terms of which were unknown. How had he gotten them to accept a new ruler? Malachi was filled with rage and filled with envy. They were all envious of the soon-to-be-born, but Malachi’s envy was different. It ate at him from the inside like a rat’s nest. He seemed to suck out all the envy in the entire castle and store it in his tiny body. It was at this moment that Malachi the Archprince of Envy was born.
